6. S.u.S.E. firewall on a non S.u.S.E. system

You can use the firewall and masquerading on any linux system, as long the kernel supports firewalling/masquerading and the tool ipfwadm is available.

You may get errors when while installing the rpm, cause a script to include the default settings into /erc/rc.config is called during the installation. Ignore this error and move the file /var/adm/fillup-templates/rc.config.firewall to /etc/rc.config.

Depending on the distribution you are using, it may also be neccesary to call the two script /sbin/init.d/firewall and /sbin/init.d/firewall during the boot process out of /etc/rc.d/something.
